The Banialuka Puppet Theater is one of the oldest puppet theaters in Poland and one of the most renowned in the country and worldwide. It was founded in 1947 by visual artists Jerzy Zitzman and Zenobiusz Zwolski. The flexible heritage of the theater for many decades has determined the artistic character of Banialuka. With its performances, Banialuka has visited dozens of countries around the world, including Japan, Chile, and the United States. It participated in the most prestigious theater festivals, including those in Edinburgh, Avignon, Cividale, New York, and Charleville-Mézières. She has won many top awards and honors at the most prestigious reviews. A group of outstanding artists have collaborated with the theater. In Banialuka, large theatrical productions, created by multiple performers, impress with their staging pizazz, abundance of formal techniques, and sophisticated visual artistry. Banialuka's repertoire is highly appealing, drawing in both younger audiences and teenagers. The performances are appreciated by both the audience and critics, as evidenced by the prestigious artistic awards granted to Banialuka.

Since 1966, Banialuka has been the organizer of the International Puppet Theater Festival, one of the most important puppet theater reviews in the world.
